E Nomine

How 'bout a music-related post? I just got the new remix collections by
Icon of Coil (even more straight-up techno) and Depeche Mode (surprisingly
varied, but DJs may just want the Enjoy the Silence 2004 single(s)
instead) and I'm all a-tizzy. But what I wanted to talk about was: E
Nomine.
If you've heard me DJ at Ceremony you've heard me play "Vater Unser," "Das
Tier In Mir," or "Das Omen." E Nomine's forumla isn't original, but it
works: apocalyptic dance beats, angry German guy ranting about something
like a deranged preacher, chorale samples all over the place. Cheesy as
hell, or brilliant, or both. The thing is, I know some of you loved 'em,
but they're damn hard to find in Pittsburgh and all their albums are
really expensive imports.
Well, finally, they're releasing a "best of," titled: Das Beste aus Gottes
Beitr. It'll probably just have album versions (I usually shelled out for
the singles to get extended versions) but unless you're a DJ mixing songs
together you probably don't care.
Since Patrick turned me on to them, I should also note that it's because
of his store's mailing list I knew about this. So check out IsoTank if
you're interested.

P.S. - Since I suspect I'm the only one in Pittsburgh who likes In Strict
Confidence, I'll save the pants-mussing superlatives regarding the
upcoming "Seven Lives" E.P.
