Voices of Masada, et.al

You bring up a good point about how technology has affected kids and "the
scene". And many of us older folks simply don't have time for as many shows
as we used to go to. Unless it's a band I really want to see, I'll most
likely skip a weeknight show simply because I have to get up early for work
the next morning. And weekends where I'm not busy running errands I'd more
often than not rather spend time with friends. Priorities shift. I remember
going to some great shows, not knowing who any of the bands were, just
because they were shows. Saw some great things Manny put on at places like
Luciano's or the Brew House. It's much harder to squeeze in that sort of
thing now, alas.
While I do agree that Oakland needs more venues, I also wouldn't say that
Laga was always packed. If a band like Killing Joke can only get about 25
people, it's no wonder places are closing and tours aren't going to
Pittsburgh; in that context, it sounds like Voices of Masada actually did
quite well.
(This is all moot anyway, as I don't even live there any more. And now I
live in a city where bands I like actually visit, so I will be going out
more often. Nyeah-nyeah.)
