ah, I see... when I was in college, emo and prep-punk were  interchangable. prep-punk would be much like skater I guess. I dunno...  I dated one once and it left a bad taste in my mouth (that sounds bad,  but I am just leaving what I typed out of ammusement)

No no, that was hipster. Emo used to be punk in the way back. Then it
was indyish in the not so way back. Now its goth with those afflicted
by the curse of youth (ergo, the reference to being a high school
sophmore).

These kids today, they just won't make up their mind. No dedication I tell ya.
