It's all about mindshare.  If you were to create some mechanism that
proved successful... you'd have to start by aggressively gathering
info yourself until you had a significant group of readers...
promoters would start sending it to you.  They're not dumb, they're
just concentrating their resources on what they perceive to be the
most effective means of reaching people with the finite time they
allot to promotion.

The problem is that lots of people have great ideas for scene social
hubs, but very few people are willing to put in the effort to create
an approachable mechanism, then keep diligently maintaining it for
years.
