I am brand new to this list and wanted to say greetings. My name is
XXX-Sasha-XXX and I'm a goth from long ago. I enjoy listening to the

enjoyed, Switchblade Sympathy, Faith and The Muse, Cruxshadows, and

Greetings.  Are you planning to make it into Pittsburgh, or are you
stuck in Greensburg?  I am unfamiliar with most of Greensburg, I only
know the Palace Theater (happily saw Social D there recently-ish!) and
Red Star Brewery there, neither of which are fundamentally goth.

However, here in Pittsburgh we have a few events around town, and some
up and coming things.  Last night I went to The Upstage Nation at The
Smiling Moose in the Southside; they played mostly EBM/Synthpop hits
from the past few years, so it may be up your alley from your brief
description.

Does anyone else have any other suggestions?  I've been out of the
loop mostly, so can't really attest to much personally.  But it might
also be prudent for us to use this as an excuse to update ourselves on
what is available now that Ceremony is gone.

This night will feature everyone's favorite local G/I deejays:
DJ Hiem and DJ Candyblades

Plus industrial rockers Wreckcreation take some time out from their busy
recording schedule for a special opening night performance!

Don't sit around Saturday Jan 3rd, the Pittsburgh G/I scene is not dead!

On the first Saturday of each month, EMPIRE will conquer Butler Street,
alternating back and forth
between Your Inner Vagabond (4130 Butler) and Belvedere's (4016 Butler).
YIV events will be all ages and BYOB (for 21+), and Belvie's events will
be 18+ to get in, 21+ to drink.

How to get there: Do you know the 40th Street Bridge is? Both venues are a
very short walk from 40th and Butler and there's good street parking, plus
it's OK to use the Wendy's lot.
Taking a 91A from Downtown will drop you off in front of both venues.
Or coming from Oakland, get off the 54C at Penn & 40th and walk 2 blocks
down the hill. That's it!

On the local band front, while I'd recommend all of them, in particular if you're into old school Goth, there's The Burning Path and Violaria, and on the Terror-EBM front, Rein[Forced].

We cover a wide gamut of sound, from Power Noise (Prometheus Burning), to Ethereal (Patricia Wake), to Coldwave / Industrial Rock (Singine, Wreckreation, and Agnes Wired for Sound), to Dark Ambient (Requiem, and ahem, my project, Jordan Decay) and a number of others. Oddly, we seem to have a larger percentage of Trip-Hop acts - Surviving The Odyssey, Una De Luna, and Debutante.

As mentioned by Gwen, the longest running and largest club night in Pittsburgh recently ceased activities. There are a number of smaller club nights though, including two at the Smiling Moose on Saturdays and Sundays, two in the Strip district (Delerium and Nemesis), the recently posted Empire in Lawrenceville, and Halcyon (more lounge / ambient type stuff) on the South Side.

For shopping, ignoring the omnipresent (and in my opinion unwanted) Hot Topic, there's Slacker and FTB Ink on the South Side for clothing, jewelry, and more. For music, there's Eides Entertainment in the Strip and Wicked Discs in North Oakland.

And finally, at the risk of sounding self-aggrandizing, I also do a small free zine called The Burnt Library. It comes out every two months and includes a list of upcoming concerts.

Wow, that didn't take long. But it's been a while since anything scene-related was able to have any lasting power in the Strip. The Prana Gallery had a fair run, but before that there was, what Industrial Mondays at Cloud Nine and Tepes Lounge at Metropol? Over ten years ago.

You might check out the Keynote Cafe in Jeannette, which has had a few goth 
acts like  Masochrist and Wolf Wolf recently. They also have a pretty lively 
local grindcore and emo community that tends to have shows in the Keynote 
basement on sunday nights. I don't know if you're familar with Shrike Beats Bee, Jon 
Miller or OPM, but they're all Irwin area bands that I've seen there that 
impressed me.

Masochrist is a thrash-punk/powerviolence band. Not goth.
Shrike Beats Bee are powerviolence, too.

I know about some of the kids who put on shows at the Keynote and other
suburban outlier venues, and it's doubtful that any of the shows have much
goth content. Like you said - grindcore and emo, and probably pop punk
too.
