This is true.
I would never buy anything from Starbucks, not because of their political
philosophy but because of their business plan to crush indies (much like
CC).

I personally don't care much about causing birds and fish pain or not
because I like to eat them. People are supposed to eat meat, it's what
makes us healthier and longer-lived than say Australopithecus.
Still, it's better to eat a bird or fish
killed by a small business than by a megacorporation.

We all have our interests, but you're right, at least it helps to be
informed. And supposedly 'leftist' artists profiting from a rightwing
corporation is troubling ideologically to say the least.
