Because a recent death hightens the emotional
experiance of dancing to the music of a specific
artist and can make it a worthwhile night. Conversly,
as Adam pointed out, if there's no special, compelling
reason to have a The Cure night, or a Siouxie Sioux
night, it would just be dull.

I'm also with Adam in saying that playing multiple
tracks from the same artist in one night is lazy and
boring, unless you have something really witty or neat
to spin like, say, playing Bowie's Space Oddity and
Ashes To Ashes back to back and then following it up
with Major Tom.

P.S. I, however, am absolved from any and all guilt of
any such crimes against good DJing when I played two
Skinny Puppy songs in one night at Ceremony because 1)
Skinny Puppy fucking rocks and 2) It was a blatant
attempt to get into Derek's pants.

In 1977 there were 150 Elvis impersonators. By 1999 there were 35,000. If this rate of growth continues, by the year 2019, more than one third of the world's population will be Elvis impersonators.
