I used the flu. I was really sick for two weeks, didn't want to smoke
during that time... for the week after that, I smoked a very little
(about 3 cigs during the week), then I smoked 2 cigs during the
superbowl at the end of that week.

Since then, I've just not wanted to smoke. Like, at all. So, I guess
this is when I quit.

The thing is, I've tried quitting so many times. I've white-knuckled,
I've nicorette gummed, I've patched, I've carried around fake
cigarettes.... but through those attempts I'd maintained a desire to
continue smoking. I mean, I didn't want to smoke, but I desired it,
craved it. And in those times, I'd have been off cigarettes for a
while, but still went back. This time just feels different because
I've lost the desire for the cigs.

In other words, it's not something I *did*. No mind over will crap,
no trick, no whatever. It was just Time, I guess.

And hey, I'm glad for it... I really really don't miss waking up
feeling like my chest had been supporting a small automobile on it
overnight. Yay!
