triphop, old-school goth-rock, IDM, noise, power-tronics, etc....

First of all, I just want to say that I'm including the rest of this digest in my reply for archival purposes. (You'll know what I'm talking about in a sec... Apologies for the long post.) Don't you all find it interesting that the music folks are saying they want to hear is stuff that DOESN'T PACK THE DANCEFLOOR? This is just more fodder for my arsenist tendency to burn down the dancefloor and rebuild it as an IDM lounge. And of course, if folks knew these styles were going to be addressed, maybe they'd actually show up? (Contrary to most djs opinions, there's more potential for G/I clubs than simply restricting it all to dance-music.)

Night Shift should definitely think about doing more downtempo stuff the first hour while folks arrive and get their drink on.... Hell, maybe even kick down the tempo at 1:40 and keep the music churning until 2:20 with more oddball stuff. (Think of it as a way to POLITELY remind folks that it's time to leave without completely ruining the mood.)

On a similar note... Is that other Pgh event--the one at the surf-bar... is that still churning? What was it called... Carousel maybe?

Sooooooo, I DJ at Ceremony with Imperium (Matt) and Hiem (Jim) this
weekend, with no special event planned. I feel like this really opens
up some room for me to go a little crazy, and I'm going to bring in my
own gear to make sure I don't have technical problems like last time.
New Covenant, yeah, Edge of Dawn, bitchin', finally picking up the She
Wants Revenge full-length... one or two relative unknowns to slip
in... but what else? I know Allison wants to hear trip-hop, and
there's always a couple fellows who want EBM so hard their anus
bleeds, but what else? Maybe some Kraftwerk... maybe the emo-tronic
new Apoptygma Berzerk... I don't know, what do you think?

I had no idea that EBM stood for Eruptive Bowel Movement. All the
more reason to never, ever, ever sit on the floor at the Upstage.
Diapers are the new pacifiers.

I want to hear some Wolf Parade, but I don't count.

I miss you guys so much.

however I must have an exceptionally hard anus because EBM has yet to
penetrate me in that orifice. that would take something more like
Asche or Synapscape.

i wanna hear trip hop, too, but i don't count since i'm never there.
however, were i to be there, i'd like trip hop, idm, something with some
disco funk action, and a nice jazz influence or two. of course, chances are
good i won't be there. at least know i'll be thinking of you. settle down.

Hi,

I've not gotten any new triphop or anything for that matter in awhile.
What's recommended for some good newer triphop?

It's not a style I know well, but lots of people seem to like
Lunascape, and I'm digging their latest single (which includes a
ThouShaltNot remix).

Oh nice, I didn't even know lunascape was still putting out any new
material.

I have to be in the mood for trip hop, but Lunascape has done some pretty
solid material.

What's the name of the new album?

Anything with TSN is quite goooooodeeeee.

Reminiscence is the album. "Mindstalking" is the single with the TSN remix.
